You walk into a rehearsal and finish setting up. You sit down and your hands are drawn to the keyboard by a little groove the drummer's been idly fooling with. A couple bars in, you've found your riff...and feel the drummer ratchet up his energy in response: filling in the groove slightly, hits maybe a bit harder, an accent or two...just playing in a more focused way. He's giving back.
I mean that's exactly what I tripped on yesterday, sitting down with Jamstix for the first time in freejam. None of the dizzying array of sounds and instruments and sequencing/multi-tracking capabilities in my rig has ever given me this feeling of musical interaction. I forgot how good that feels!
And I have to think this ultimately will be revealed in the quality of what I play. So I'm trying to work out ways I can use freejam while tracking parts for songs.
Wow. Thank you Ralph.
Best/Mark
P.S. BTW, my rig is Mac/Pro Tools...I'm hosting JS in Bidule on a PC, MIDI'd to DFHS (also hosted in Bidule) on the Mac. |

Thanks so much, Mark!
PS: Your setup is pretty cool, hadn't heard of that combo before. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Well, given that this set-up is teetering on the crumbly edges of interoperability...I'm just grateful that it all works. Rock solid too! That Bidule is just such a cool little "lego blocks" for the studio. |
