Here's the current Jamstix beta. Use at your own risk. Any feedback is greatly appreciated as it helps us shake out the bugs!

YOU MUST HAVE JAMSTIX 1.42 INSTALLED FOR THIS BETA TO WORK.

Demo Users -> http://66.235.201.50/demos/jamstixX8-15demo.zip

Jamstix Owners -> http://66.235.201.50/updates/jamstixX8-15.zip
(Use ID and password that came with your Jamstix delivery)

    X8-15
  • this beta is compatible with FreePak
  • 'Snare- Tom 3' slider no longer affects playing in manual or key word jam mode
  • if the hihat 16th box is checked, the notes are suppressed during fills with semi hat option to avoid unnatural choking
  • snare bouncing is now suppressed if 'Always Sidestick' is active
  • 'No Hats' option for fills no longer plays open hat on one
  • 'Semi hats' option for fills now starts only after the fill has begun playing
  • fixed cymbals and hihat foot playing during powerplay in manual mode with muted brain
  • Jamstix now detects bouncing/freezing and disables MIDI feedback loop detector for the duration

    X8-14
  • MIDI-Out Only setting is now stored in the project data
  • added 'Min Velocity' and 'Max Velocity' automation parameters
  • moving the mouse over the mapping name now displays the full-length name in the status bar
  • added ini option 'LateWSLoad' to postpone the internal sample loading during Jamstix launch until the first Play command from the host. This is useful for users who experience problems loading very large projects with Jamstix in Cubase or for those who open and edit many projects repeatedly without the need to play each of them and thus would rather save the load time

    X8-13
  • added VST automation parameters for '16th Shuffle' and 'Character'
  • further improved speed of repeat mapping load
  • removed black focus rectangles in the Jamstix interface when used in Tracktion

    X8-12
  • reduced interface CPU usage through reduced refresh frequency and optimization. This solves popping/clicking for some users with low latency/buffers when the Jamstix window is open
  • rhythm locking no longer resets the bar counter so bar/tick host synch is still provided during the lock

    X8-11
  • added 'Stereo Width' control to the output tab to adjust stereo separation
  • added 'Shaping' control to the output tab which allows modifying the ambience sound by reducing ambience delay
  • improved hihat choking with internal sounds
  • Swing characters now switch off 16th shuffle
  • removed 'Tempo Filter' automation parameter. Jamstix now always disables the tempo filter while the host is playing, allowing one filter event per play cycle

    X8-10
  • added Hihat control to the fill selector dialog to choose between normal, off and semi mode for rhythm hihats during a fill for each bar. Previously you could only choose between off and semi for the whole arrangement via jam habits.
  • improved repeat sound data loading speed
  • added 'TempoOffset' parameter to jamstix.ini file which can be used to offset the tempo synch
  • minor visual changes to labels with black background

    X8-9
  • fixed noises during data load in some hosts
  • fixed synch issues introduced in X8 beta series
  • changed target icon next to sample list to 'Filter'
  • added 'Auto-Load' option to sample list. If enabled, changing the snare, hihat closed or ride sound will cause Jamstix to automatically try to find and load sounds of the same name for the other sounds of the same class
  • added jamstix.ini parameter 'SupportTimeSignatureChanges' (default=1), which can be useful when encountering synch issues and no time signature changes within a song are used (set to 0 in that case)

    X8-8
  • improved MIDI feedback loop detection logic
  • end of fill and rhythm change crash now uses both crash sounds
  • added arrows to sound list in mapping tab to be able to step without having to open list repeatedly
  • added target icon next to output slider (checked by default). If checked, changes to the output selection will affect all sounds of the same class

    X8-7
  • when probed by the fxpansion VST/RTAS wrapper, Jamstix no longer attempts to load its support files
  • improved MIDI feedback loop detection logic
  • added sample list filter in form of a target icon next to the sample list. When active, the sample list will be reduced to applicable samples only, simplifying selection

    X8-6
  • added checkbox to load rhythm dialog to keep rhythms from changing current state of accent and cymbals sliders
  • fixed C1 pitch naming error in key selector dialog box for some hosts
  • CS sounds are no longer routed to output #4 when ambience is routed to #4
  • when using external VSTi, rimshots sounds are now routed to the snare head sound if no rimshot mapping is present
  • added MIDI feedback loop protection. If a loop is detected, a warning message is shown in the status bar and the MIDI input processing is suspended until 'Manual Jam' is pressed again.

    X8-5
  • improved rhythm autolocking (make sure to double-click on desired bar to switch between arranger and auto-locked rhythms)
  • reinstated GUI refresh for SAVIHost and Sonar from X8-2

    X8-4
  • added '16th Shuffle' character
  • added secondary function to PASTE command in rhythm tab: if the CTRL key is held when clicking on the button, the current rhythm is pasted to the next slot and Jamstix advances to that rhythm. This allows fast cloning and altering of several variants of a rhythm.
  • PASTE rhythm select box now shows names and uses a list box for selection
  • moving away from the rhythm tab with the rhythm lock on will return Jamstix to normal play but will automatically return back to locked rhythm play when the rhythm tab is selected again.

    X8-3
  • if a liveloop ends with an ending, Jamstix now switches liveloops off and stops playing after the ending
  • added jamstix.ini command 'MaxTrim' to control the max range of the input trim knob (default=200)
  • hihat open notes now suppress closed hats for the duration of an eighth to avoid the 'weirdly choked' sound in 16th hihat patterns
  • this Beta should not exhibit the 'GUI opening noise' issue of X8-2

    X8-2
  • implemented 16th shuffle logic for accent and fills
  • fixed GUI refresh issues in the arranger under certain circumstances in SAVIHost and Sonar
  • added lock icon to output selection slider in the mapping tab to keep the current output matrix even after a new mapping is loaded
  • fixed certain actions leading to held key focus in Cubase

    X8-1
  • implemented 16th shuffle logic and added 16th shuffle switch to control panel
  • improved repeat GUI load speed in hosts that destroy the GUI whenever it is closed (i.e. Cubase).

Yeah!!! This is a feature I've waited for . . . suh-weet! You rock, Ralph. Bring on the 16th-shuffled ghost strokes and fills!

Not to get too greedy right off the bat, but I don't suppose you'd consider implementing a way to get Jamstix to play the *middle* 16th-note triplet? "Rosanna, Rosanna..."

Thank you very much for the GUI fix !! Loading the GUI for the second time is now really fast under Cubase. Implemented just two days after I reported this, really outstanding support, thank you so much Ralph !

When I use the latest build in SaviHost I noticed a doubling of the hits. Especially the bass. Sounds like a light peddle then the usual bass sound. The Pre strike is about an 1/8th note in front of the regular bass.

This doesn't happen in Cubase. Confused

Can't duplicate it. Please check what audio driver SAVIHost is using.

Thanks Ralph,

I think it was a combination of Driver and playing standard midi sounds( don't know if that is possible) but messed around with different configs and works great now!!!

If you get "List index out of bounds (-1)" when launching your X8-2 beta, please re-download it. We just updated the archive.

As always: One or two days after the problem has been reported Ralph provides a fix. Stunning support ! Thank you Ralph.

I was messing around with the new shuffle settings using keyword jam on the 80's rock and when I hit the 8th shuffle it changed to a shuffle and when I took is off it went back to common, then when I activated the 16th shuffle it stayed on 4/4. So I then tried 8th shuffle, followed by 16th shuffle (both) and the hi hat stayed the same (8th shuffle). I expected the hi hat to play 16ths or something but I couldn't hear any change.

If the hihat plays an eighth pattern then you will not hear a 16th shuffle since it requires 16th notes. You'll have to manually check the 'Sixteenth' box in the hihat panel of the rhythm tab for that.

We are thinking about adding a '16th Shuffle' character setting that will do this for you.

Thanks Ralph. That occurred to me after I pressed post. That feature is a major plus, it sounds very good.

using the new 8-2 beta with ableton Live it seems to take a much longer time to get jamstix up and running - it seems to freeze for a while. Sorry cant be more specific. it appears ok once loaded.

btw drum pack 2 is great

Can't duplicate it here, works as fast as previous versions. Could you send me your rzdlog.txt file from the Jamstix folder and tell me your Live versions as well?

Ralph
Will send rzd log when I get home tonight in the mean time abit more specific information. Am using Live 4.0.1
I have a default set which has 2 Audiotracks empty, and 6 stereo tracks for Jamstix i.e. Jamstix initial midi track with Kick assigned plus 5 audio tracks for snare, hihats cymbals, toms and what I call percussion.
The default set loads ok and the loading samples for Jamstix goes thru the regular things, then the jamstix GUI appears and everything seems fine. If I go to the mapping tab although there is a kit loaded there is no name in the bos (top right) I then click load and nothing happens for a while, the dialogue box eventually appears but when I try and load a kit I get a "load mapping not responding" in blue banner at top. If i wait a while it seems to sort itself out and I can loaad the kit and everything then appears to work fine.
thanks

That's normal since you loaded from the host and JS doesn't save mapping names to the project.

Quote:

That's odd since the load mapping dialog is a standard Windows dialog.
We'll look into the log when we get it
