I am messing around with JS in the freejam mode and using it to play the drums to a midi file, the file has a premade drum track and it does a pretty good job of making a nice live feeling track, the thing i want to know is how to make it stop and start with the song, can freejam be triggered by something in the song, to both start and stop
I use Multitrack studios as the sequencer. |

Yes, assign an unused note to in the 'Jam Start/Stop' box of the jam tab control panel and then check the box next to it to activate it.
Jamstix will now wait for that note to be triggered before starting the free jam. Send another note to stop the jam. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Freeze Up? Can you elaborate on that? What exactly is frozen? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

That's not frozen. The flashing LED in the jam controls means Jamstix is waiting for the start MIDI key to start the jam. You can 'unfreeze' it by unchecking the box next to the 'Jam Start/Stop' selector.
Are you pressing the key to start the jam or send it via the MIDI track? If so, make sure it really is the same as selected in 'Jam Start/Stop'. Verify by pressing the key and then the keyboard icon next to 'Jam Start/Stop'. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I am triggering by using the midi track (pre-recorded) unchecking the box does not release it. When i open the midi track and place note to trigger, i add an instrument line just for that trigger, but the little keyboard icon tells me it is a different note. I think. |

The note nunbers can be different since there are Roland and Yamaha numbering schemes that are different. Just press the note on the keyboard, click the keyboard icon so that note gets assigned to the start/stop and make sure to use the same key of your keyboard in the track. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

When Jamstix is silent, is there a blinking LED next to the 'Jam With MIDI' selector? _________________ Ralph Zeuner
