You are welcome to PM me any time but the best advice I can give is to stick to a simple song format for the time being e.g Intro/Verse/Chorus/Verse/Chorus/Middle/Verse/Chorus to end.

Then practice on one or two songs.I've gone back to songs that I did with other drum software and re-did them with JS as well.

There's loads of tricks/things that real drummers do,you've just got to spot them.If you have say a slow to middle paced rocky song then,"Charlie" actually uses the technique that the Rolling Stones drummer uses.He lifts his hi-hat hand when he plays his snare so there's no Hi-hat on that beat and many times opens the Hi-hat on the beat before the snare or after the snare.I use this even if it's not,"Charlie" I'm using on some songs as it makes the song swing and funks it up a little.

You can really hear it on this Stones track,

Thank for the advice Sheppo!!!

I am wanting a straight forward kick-snare-Kick-snare rock beat ...

I must say, i have found JS pretty difficult to work out ... no worries though, i am going to try some stuff tonight!!

Try '8th Rock' from the rock folder and Charlie or James Stix. If you hear too many accents, dial down the 'Overall' slider in the accent tab.

Also, if you try other drummers, look for a player preset at the top of the brain panel called "Restrained', which many drummers have.

I've only found Jamstix difficult if I/you think like old midi programming.

True. With JS, it's easier to make complex/enhanced rhythms than extremely simple ones. Smile I love it!

You can create simple beats easy using the Arrow head in the Bar editor.

Make one bar of the beat you want then click to copy it.Then paste it back in and it will ask you how many bars you want to use it on so say 8 bars. Then you have a full eight bars of the beat Smile

Hey guys thanks sooo much for all the advice...

One thing that is happening though is i will start with a clean bar, add my kick snare beat to it, but then it only plays one bar of it and goes back to the other beats again...

I am sorry for being such a noowbie Sad

You can copy/paste your bar to the other bars but my favorite way is to click 'Turn Groove Into Style' in the bar menu.
