thanks |

the reason for the 4 bar difference between Tracktion and Jamstix is because I always set my songs to start at bar 5 in the sequencer, not bar 1. Jamstix has a 4 bar offset in all my songs. I haven't checked this in this particular song because I am working away from home but I know that the 6/4 bar in Jamstix and Tracktion occured at the same place in the song, and Jamstix wasn't playing anything through that bar |

What offset did you set in JS2, visual or actual? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| I can't remember what it is called but it is set in the Options setting and applies to all my songs. I know for sure that the song lined up throughout and the 6/4 bar in the sequencer and Jamstix occurred at the same place. |

I'll need to know if you set the actual or visual bar offset in JS2. Also, do you use any special setting in Tracktion for the offset or do you just simply start recording at bar 5? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I'll have to check it when I get home tomorrow. I just start the song at bar 5 in Tracktion. |

the bar offset is actual not visual. As I said previously there is no sound from Jamstix when the song goes through the 6/4 bar. what I did notice is that, in the song structure within Jamstix, the 6/4 bar part is skipped over. when the 6/4 bar is occuring in the sequencer, Jamstix is indicating in its song structure that the song is still in the previous part of the song which is set for 4/4. BUT in the bar editor it changes to 6/4 with hits indicated on the first 4 beats of the bar, but no hits indicated for beats 5 and 6. However, no sound is heard anywhere in the bar. When the sequencer moves onto the bar after the 6/4 bar, back in 4/4 time, the Jamstix song structure lines up correctly.
Just to confirm the one bar part in 6/4 within Jamstix has the correct time signature set, and lines up correctly with the 6/4 bar in the sequencer. |

You should not use an actual bar offset without the host reporting an incorrect song position. Try this, it worked for me in your project:
- set bar offset actual back to zero
- click the first part menu and choose 'Create Intro'
- set the intro length to 4 bars
- click the part menu of the 6/4 part and choose 'Recompose Whole Part'
You know have JS2 and Tracktion bar/beat counters in-synch and the 6/4 bar plays as expected. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Okay I'll try this and thanks for the solution. Given that I have been using the 4 bar actual offset for all my songs, should I create a 4 bar intro to go at the start of all my songs now in order to deal with starting songs at bar 5 in my sequencer? I think I will have to given that the offset in Jamstix is a universal setting. However, lets say I already have an intro section in a song of, say 2 bars which I want silent apart from a drum pickup on the last half bar, would Jamstix allow me to have 2 intro parts at the start of the song? the first would be fully silent and the second with the drum pickup. This would apply a universal solution to the bar offset issue for all my songs and would be easier to relate to where my song is in the sequencer |

The 'Intro' part type will suppress all grooves and accents and only play fills for transitional purposes. If you need a different type of intro with some groove playing then use the normal part type (but you can call it 'Intro' in the song sheet). And, yes, you could have two intros. _________________ Ralph Zeuner
