You are right as far as Audio-recording is concerned but if you want to record the MIDI-Out of Jamstix you need DirectiXer. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I now have DirectiXer installed. When I open "Rayzoon Jamstix" as a DXi it comes up as only the tool bar and doesn't show me the same program pages etc as when I open Jamstix VSTi. Also, a loud intermittent beeping noise comes through my system every 30 seconds or so. When I try to open the BFD with the tool box it doesn't recognize BFD's program. I am guessing I may need to have DirectXer "wrap" BFD too. Is that correct? |

You need to open the properties for Jamstix in the DirectiXer and check 'Alternate Window Sizing Method'. The GUI will show up then. The intermittent noise, if it is a beep, is because you are using the DirectiXer demo version. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

okay ... got that. Thanks. Could you please explain how to get BFD ALL properly loaded and able to receive midi out from Jamstix? |

Swingguy.
It looks to me like Arranger with the Midi Export feature is the way to go here. It is the solution I'm looking for.
You lay down the other midi tracks first in Sonar.
You then take arranger (in demo limited to 4 bars) and accomodate those tracks.
You then export to midi out of Jamstix and place that midi track in Sonar in the project you are doing.
What I like about this, is that you can custom tailor all of the percussion assuming you are using the full version to the arrangement created with the other tracks.
The Arranger IMHO is the best featured in Rayzoon's software.
Thanks for the response. I'm a bit surprised that the author couldn't come up with your suggestion.

We're working on an updated manual to include such procedures but here it goes:
- make sure you have Jamstix 1.02G
- add Jamstix to Sonar and click 'Send MIDI...' button in DirectiXer toolbar above Jamstix GUI. This enables the MIDI-Out.
- go to the mapping tab and check the 'MIDI-Out Only' box
- load 'BFD All Outputs' mapping.
- add BFD to Sonar
- set MIDI input on BFD MIDI track to DirectiXer
- Enable Input Echo on the BFD MIDI track
All MIDI output from Jamstix is now routed to BFD. Remember this stops past bar 4 in the demo. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ok, I downloaded the DirectiXer demo and I'm having some problems. I'm using this with DFHS. Whenever I stop playback in SONAR and start it up again, it reloads the internal samples and goes back to the default mapping. If I load up the DFHS mapping while its playing back, it plays back correctly. But then when I stop and start SONAR again, it does the reload again. And yes, I have MIDI-Out only and Send MIDI checked. Another question, what should I be checking off in the SONAR synth rack as far as audio channels goes? I can either do 1 output or all outputs. I really don't need any outputs from Jamstix at all, but if I don't check off one of those, Jamstix doesn't seem to play back at all (bars stay at 0).

Sounds like a bug that got squished in the late 1.02G. We updated the 1.02G a short time after we put it up so some users who downloaded right when we put it up in the forum may not have this fix. To be save, re-download the 1.02G DLL and this problem should be gone. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

I redownloaded 1.02G, but it has the same timestamp as what I already had. It only seems to reload the samples and mapping if I have the Jamstix GUI open when I stop and start SONAR. If its closed, it works fine.

My bad
Please re-download and the timestamp should be different and the bug gone.

That seems to have fixed it. I'm getting some "Not loaded" lights in DFHS though. Is that because the mapping is off a bit? Also, will using DFHS externally like this still use the L/R options for snare and toms like it would if used internally? Thanks.

Did all the above but setting midi input in BFD midi track to directiXer. I see no way to do that. Thus ... no sound from Jamstix th BFD yet
This isn't because I have only the demo is it? |

I have just ordered the complete program. In spite of the few glitches this is a great program with TONS of potential with BFD. Actually I like a couple of your sounds better than BFD's! Especially the cymbals |
