Thought I'd be a bit rude and start this thread - since we seem to see a requests around the place I thought I'd make a place for all them to live (and add a few of my own):

Mitch Mitchell,
Vinnie Paul,
Ringo Starr,
Dave Grohl,
Butch Vig,
Jimmy Chamberlain,
Phil Selway,
Alan "Reni" Wren

Bill Brufford (King Crimson, Yes)
Vinnie Collaiuta (Zappa years 78-80 )
Terry Bozzio (Zappa 76-78 )
Boris William (The Cure 84-93 ) [Close to JS-Mark on the other hand]

Martin Lopez (Opeth, Amon Amarth)
Alex Holzwarth (Sieges Even, Rhapsody)
Phil Ehart (Kansas)

Alex Holzwarth is in fact offering his services as a session drummer right now- it might well be possible to actually work with him on developing a model of himself and/or sampling his kit, but I doubt he's known well enough for that to be a big selling point for JS, and thus justify the expense.

Manu Katché (Peter Gabriel, ...)
Quote from http://www.drummerworld.com/drummers/Manu_Katche.html :
"...he is practically inimitable and virtuous in his own way...It would be quite senseless to try to imitate him, because his style is mainly based on musicality"

Now if THAT isn't a programmer's challenge Wink

I'd love to have Barriemore Barlow as a Drummer model.
He was in Jethro Tull from 1971-1980 and especially on Heavy Horses he had a very own and unusual drumstyle.

Bursting Out, side 3 (yeah those vinyls had sides...and this was a double live album) is the first rock album I ever *decide* to listen in my youth!

Led Zeppelin II is the second one and Zappa's Joe's Garage the beginning of my quest to get all Zappa I could get. Ah memories... So +1 on Barriemore!

What a great song and group, still going strong, although with all the shift now and again in personnel.
I told my wife the other week I wanted to get King Crimson's "face" from their first lp tattooed on my arm but she said she didn't want to sleep next to that, now have to plump for The Who Sad Very Happy

Buddy Rich

Gene Krupa

Carl Palmer

Dennis Chambers

Ian Paice

From the drummers suggested in this thread so far, I'm guessing nobody wants Ralph to have any free time... Wink

Most of the same guys mentioned already:

Bill Bruford
Ginger Baker
Ian Paice
Keith Moon
Ringo Starr
Dennis Chambers

I would vote for a Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" style, but it's fairly simple. I've been listening to Alan Parson's "Don't Answer Me" and I'm nostalgic for those percussion lead-ins before the downbeats (tympani, tambourine, etc.)
