You gotta do this... its brilliant!!
Get the drum track right .... freeze the jamstix vst instrument... unload it from the rack.... viola! virtually no cpu usage at all... (this is from memory so I hope its right)
Also .... being able to use seperate outs for drums e.g. kick/snare/other etc is a huge advantage!
IS THERE NOTHING THIS DOESN'T DO WELL? (yeah.. it doesn't make tea)

I've never tried this, how does it appear, as a midi track? I suppose I could always try it myself but being lazy gonna tell me |

You're spot on there adx, actually i always need to freeze jamstix, once i've laid down several track and gone overboard with effects and automation (as is my tendency!). but then again, my comp is starting to show its age. it seems that most people are using jamstix via the arranger anyway. It obviously wouldn't work if you're taking the free jam route.
It doesn't appear as a midi track, i could be wrong here but as i understand it, freezing a vsti is similar to bouncing it as a wav file. so in other words you can't edit it anymore (unless you unfreeze it), but it uses HEAPS less CPU.
Just press F11 and click the little snowflake |
