Some more information on jamming with audio in:
We will release Jamstix 1.0 with the ability to adjust its velocity to the averaged level of an audio-in signal. This means that while Jamstix won't do rhythm changes and style adjustments based on the input as it can do with MIDI, it will still be fun to jam with. Also, the power mode switch will be connected to audio-in so you can adjust the threshold to your liking and have Jamstix switch to ride or open hats when you play your guitar loud enough.
We have tested this in Sonar 4 only, where Jamstix can be inserted into the FX patch bay of an audio track. Not sure if this can be done in other sequencers as well.
Beyond that, as Sekim has suggested, you can always look into a audio2midi converter. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

| Pardon my ignorance, but how does an audio2midi converter work? Is this a piece of hardware that interprets audio signals and converts them to MIDI, or is it software that takes a WAV file and converts it to a MIDI stream? If the later is correct, how do I get JamStix to improv against my MIDI stream? |

Hi Amonte,
Audio-To-MIDI converters come in hardware and software. They analyze the audio input and convert the data into MIDI notes and controller events. I don't have any experience with them myself.
When you set up a MIDI track for Jamstix in your sequencer, Jamstix will analyze any events on that track (live or playback) and jam with it. If you patch Jamstix into an audio track, it will jam with the audio signal but can only adjust velocity, not change rhythms based on chord changes as it can do with MIDI.
Hope this answers your question. If not, let me know... _________________ Ralph Zeuner
