|
|
| Hi, I'm new to Jamstix, but I'm having problems mapping my MIDI triggers. I am using an Alesis Surge Mesh kit, PreSonus Studio One 5 as my DAW, and Jamstix as my VST. I can load Jamstix, click every drum/cymbal with my mouse, and sound is as expected. I have my ekit plugged in, and I'm getting triggers for every pad I hit, and I have the MIDI Monitor enabled on Studio One, I can see everything, but I'm not triggering, what I am hitting. For example, I hit Tom1 center, I get tom 3 center to trigger. I have tried tried clicking Kit Piece - Tom1 > Articulation - Center > Midi Key/Channel, I click the note, brings up the "select a key or hit the key on your MIDI controller", it reflects my hit, I click assign, then I hit Tom1 again, and it's still Tom3. I'm really liking the sounds of Jamstix, but if I can't get it to work, I have to try a different VST. I have Steven Slate 3 Free, and that maps perfectly, but I don't like the sounds I'm getting from SSD5 Free. Any help or advice? |

| I think the Alesis kits output midi data in General Midi format. Have you set the Jamstix to MIDI Playback mode and set Input mapping to General Midi? |

Hi,
Did you check under Options>Jamming Options that "Jam MIDI Channel" is set to the channel your Alesis kit is transmitting on?
EDIT: Disregard I just re-read your post that it's just the wrong sample triggering. When you set the key for your individual kit pieces, are you sure that the assignments are "sticking"? I had an issue with my MS Surface that if I did not click and hold the "assign" button for 1 or 2 seconds long, it would switch back to the original assignment. |

| When I would click "Assign" on the new MIDI note, the window disappears instantly, and would display that new note on the info for that drum. Yet if I hit it, it would still act as if unassigned, and the wrong tom would hit. |

| That is really strange. Unfortunately I really don't have any other suggestions for you to try then, sorry. |

| I just thought of one other thing but it's a long shot. In Options, did you try toggling "Use Yamaha pitch convention for note values"? |
