What is the best way to manage fills during a song?

For example, I have a song with three consecutive verses of 12 bars each. I want fills as follows:

Verse 1: Fill at bar 9 only.
Verse 2: No fills. I want to mute fills for this verse.
Verse 3: Fills at bar 5, 9 and 12.

By default Jamstix adds fills every 5th bar so if I select a standard 4-bar verse and repeat this 3 times I get fills at bars 5, 9 & 12 for each verse.

If I select a verse and make this 12 bars long I have a fill at bar 12 for each verse.

My solution would be to add three instances of a verse in the Build then treat each verse differently in the Song panel. When I try this and it just adds a verse with 3 repetitions.

Naturally, I also want to follow with choruses so I will need to manage fills for these too.

Thanks for any help with this.

After I've gotten the Groove & Accents in the Verses the way I like, the way I would handle that situation is:

1) Song dropdown menu>Global Actions>Disable Automatic Fills In All Parts

2) Switch to the Fill window.

3) Click the Bar in the Timeline where I want a fill, add a fill I like from the Fills folder or click "Recompose" until I get something I like. The Bar will turn Blue indicating a manual fill.

4) Repeat Step 3 in all further Bars requiring a fill.

I would likely do Step 1 when starting the song if I knew this was going to be the situation but it's not necessary.

Thanks again Azimuth.

That's a great way of managing fills.

Great tip Azimuth - I've always wondered what the best method is to add fills to only certain verses.
