| Been using jamstix and saving every time a make a change and now all of a sudden the arrangements have changed themselves. I have migrated to a new computer but I brought over the song files. It seems like the changes have happened a while after the migration, I'm baffled and it's frustrating to loose an arrangement that a lot of work went into. The basic song structure is there but the performance has changed. |

| Did you have all Bars locked? That is a good idea once you have the performance how you want it to prevent any changes. Do you still have access to the old computers hard drive so you could recover the original files, they should still be there if you haven't formatted it? |

| Do you have to individually lock each bar or can you globally lock the whole perfromance? I haven't used that and obviously I should. |

| So I got out my old computer and loaded in the older version of my song and it plays exactly the same. I renamed the song to keep the versions straight but in jamstix it still says the same name, does it get that from the song name in my DAW or is it not actually loading the different song? |

You can save the song in Jamstix AND the DAW will save whatever you have in Jamstix when you save the project. So, they could actually be different. For example...
Say you have a project name "one" saved (in the DAW) with a Jamstix song called version A.
Say you make changes in Jamstix to the song and now call it version B and you save the new version B IN JAMSTIX (as a Jamstix song file) but NOT in the DAW... When you reload the project in the DAW it will reload Version A (because you didn't save the project with the new jamstix changes). But if you now load version B IN JAMSTIX and then save the project in the DAW as song version "two" it will load with song version B. Hope that makes sense. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Komplete 8. Jamstix 3.6. Absolute 3 VST. 418 Carrier Landings.

No, aside from pointing out a few errors I've come across or things I thought should be included, it is all Ralphs work. |

O/T but it applies here I think. I use a program named Flash Renamer, not free but money well spent, to go through my Jamstix song folder and automatically add the modified time and date as a prefix to the file name. I started doing this because by default Jamstix saves songs with the default "MY SONG" name if I forget to use "Save As". That way I can at least narrow down all the MY SONG files as long as I have an approximate idea of when I last worked on it. |

You lost me.
If if go to the "song" drop down in jamstix and load the old or newer version of the song the arrangement isn't there. The drummer and style is, but the number of bars is back to default, so neither one is even close to following the song. Fortunately I recorded it so I have the performance but now I can't tweak anything anymore. Somehow this is lost when I move it to the new computer. |

Sorry I was just trying to explain saving the song in Jamstix versus saving in the DaW...
It may not help recovery if it was never saved. Sorry about that.
I usually do all the saving in the DaW project as I work on the song BUt, once I am basically done, or every so often if the song takes several days, I will save a copy of the song file from within Jamstix.
This does several things...
You can load the song in an instance of Jamstix in a different DaW, or if a project file from the DAW gets corrupted, you can recover the Jamstix portion easily. And, it was easy to update Unfinished projects to Jamstix 4 from Jamstix 3 when js4 came out. _________________ Core i7 4712QM, 16GB, Cubase 9 Pro on Windows 10. Scarlett 2i2. M-Audio Axiom Pro 61. Amped do you mean when you save the song, all the settings in the groove selections and song parts are the same But your actual midi performance/note event data changes from the save???
If that is the case, maybe export the midi as general ? That’s what had worked best for me with groove agent 5? Then just paste it into Jamstix midi editor ? |

| I always hit save in jamstix and cakewalk but this was on the old computer. So now when I bring those jamstix files to the new computer the whole arrangement is gone, just the drummer and style remain, it's weird. The other songs work, I think they all work, will have to check, I recorded them all to audio track just in case something like this happened. |

Hi Amped,
Did you have Auto save configured in Jamstix on the old computer? I think it is set to 30 mins. by default when you install Jamstix. Take a look through the C:\ProgramData\Jamstix4\revisions folder on your old computer and you may find a backup of your song there.
If you saved AND named your song in Jamstix, the name will be reflected in the backup version. If you didn't name it, it will have a random number/letter combo assigned and you'll have to go through and load files in Jamstix to determine if it is the one you are looking for. The created date of your revision file might help narrow it down also. |

| I think I'm giving up on this one. I already packed the old computer up on a shelf and don't want to get it set up again. I just wonder why this happened to the one of four songs I brought over in the first place. |
