Hey Everybody !
Trying to download the free version of jamstix 3 : just impossible to find a way to start playing with!!!???
The downlaod is completed and I can spot the files in the computer, but no icon, no .exe to start jamstix...Just incredible, no?
( Bouh!!! :I wish to play music, NOT wasting time on the computer!)
Obviously something gone wrong, but what?
I uses window7 on a PC all uptodate. I have downloaded/removed and do it again (!) several times from different downloading platform (we never knows...). Each time the process goes successfully; at the end the last dialog bog says all ok, you will run jamstix using the jamstix.exe, but WHERE IS THIS F.... FILE?????
I'am afraid the next question will be: How to get jamstix & reaper good friends !
But at first, if someone could help for the mystery.exe...
Many thans, guys!

Hi,
Jamstix is not a standalone program. You must load it in Reaper as a VSTi. In Reaper, go to menu Options>preferences>Plug-ins>VST. Add the folder where you installed Jamstix to your vst plug-ins path. Click the re-scan button.
Close the Preferences window. Right click in Reaper and choose "Insert virtual instrument on new track". Click yes to accept the routing and you should be good to go. |

Hello A!
thanks for this quick reply.
Unfortunatly, still no way. I understand your explanation, and I tried to do so. Reaper cannot see anything at all! Even if i select the Reaper VST folder itself to store jamstix, no way. I tried to path jamstix3, or the 64/32 folders, or even all of them, but no, good. I've really through your words step by step! I must be wrong somewhere..... It's a pity because Jamstix seems to be the one I wish to get (with the brush kit in addition.)
Thanks again if you could spend another 5 minutes for helping!
Wolfgang

| Try doing a "Clear cache/re-scan" when you set the VST folder path instead of just a re-scan. Search your computers files for jamstix3.dll. Whatever folder that file is located in is where the vst path in Reaper must point to. You could also try running Reaper as an Administrator just to make sure that User Account Control is not causing you problems. I'm going to be offline until later tonight so don't think I'm ignoring you if I don't reply by then. Good luck. |

Hello a! Thanks for your help!
Still nothing...
Following are the very last file names I put in the VST adress dialog box:
C:\jamstixplugin32\jamstix3.dll;C:\jamstixplugin64\jamstix3.dll
They were found in the folders "jamstixplugin32 & 64. Is it the correct location?
Reaper is already run as an administrator, and I tried to clearcache/scan.
When completed, I assume I must click the "apply" button, and then "OK"?
What about the files named "audioM8.dll"? Or should I stay one step beyond and type only "C:\jamstixplugin32;C:\jamstixplugin64"?
Another question; I found also 2 files:in C jamstix bin 32(&64) named "jamstix.exe". If I click these files, nothing comes. I assume this is normal??
Every time I complete the process, I create a new track, following your recommendation. The dialog box "insert virtual...." appears, and going through the entire list of plugings shows nothing about jamstix....
However I have dowloaded a few month ago VEGA SONY (video editing) and since then I can spot in reaper's effect window list all the SONY VST imported. It means that scanning for new effects works fine...
Another point what should be the correct VST bridging/firewalling? mine is on "automatic". Correct? |

Hi,
Only point to the folder, not the file. So the VST path in Reaper should be either C:\jamstixplugin32 or C:\jamstixplugin64. You only need either the 32 bit or 64 bit plugin depending on your OS, not both.
AudioM8.dll is used for the audio jam function that Jamstix is capable of doing. Jamstix.exe is the plugin server file and is not a standalone program.
If correcting your VST path in Reaper does not solve the problem, try changing the security setting for the folder where the jamstix3.dll you need to use to allow full control for everyone. Also, Jamstix will be listed in the VSTi effects in Reaper not VST. Automatic bridging is what I use so it hould be fine. |

| Great, I'm glad that you got it working. I hope you find Jamstix to be as amazing as I have since I found it. |
