When I record Jamstix 3 in Sonar 8.5, I like to to record a midi piano track first, playing along with JS as it improvises the song. Then I drag the song part in Jamstix to a new midi track with a JS input, with JS in drum module mode, so I can edit the drum track in Sonar's piano roll view.

Only problem is - I don't get the velocity variations I had when I originally jammed with JS. Is there any way to drag to a new midi track, preserving the velocity variations? Or can I have the velocity of my recorded piano track control the velocity of Jamstix and then drag the song in a new midi track. And if so, how??

Thanks

Try recording the JS MIDI output in SONAR while jamming instead of exporting the MIDI.
