In the last couple of days I have noticed that if I click on the preview button (circular arrow) in the bar editor, I hear what sounds like double hits striking at the same time on each piece, that distorted, out of phase sound. If I let Jamstix play with the track, no problem. Looked the options page over several times, didn't see anything that looked like it could be the problem. Any ideas?

This happens even if you close/reload the project?

Yes, Ralph, it does. It happens in Sonar and Reaper.

Also Ralph, if I drag the cursor over a hit in the bar editor, the resulting sound is fine, no double hit. I tried deleting Jamstix from the synth rack in Sonar, and then reloading it back into the synth rack, but I got a Sonar message that said Sonar had encountered a problem and needed to close.
