I can't duplicate that problem. Can you send me the RPP?

Also, the delay you experienced is depending on the complexity of the Jamstix arrangement. So it may not be an issue in some projects.

Okay, I opened your project and JS looks fine. What exact steps do I need to take to reproduce it?

Change JS to Drum Module mode and then save the project. Then re-load that saved project.

When I open your project, JS is already in DM mode.

I tried this:

- open your project
- change JS2 to JNI mode
- save/close
- re-open project
- change JS2 to DM mode
- save/close
- reopen project and all is still well

Right.I deleted the project file and then saved and then re-loaded and all seems ok now so maybe there was some corruption however I still have to change from DM mode to JNI mode and back to stop the delays but as you say that's Reaper and I can live with that.
It is known that Reaper's midi is not all it could be.This is recognized by their support and like yourself they do listen to their users.
I'm active on their forum and may point them to this thread as there are definitely some things that may cause problems down-the-line.

PS
Even with these small frustrations I still love your product.

I do have to say though that I've pointed a few people to the Demo version and they all have said it's too hard to get working. Most people want something that will work,"Out of the box" and,"Then" they will be interested and pursue it.
I suggest that for the demo you make JS automatically load the,"Rock" groove so that if someone downloads the demo and opens up the VST in their DAW they can hit play and they will get a sound straight away.
I myself only got it working on my 3rd download of the demo and I'm computer literate!
On quite a few forums the main complaint is that the interface is not,"User Friendly".I can understand this as you have made an innovative product with it's,"Brain" but if you wish to please the masses you must address the interface.
For instance,I've only just discovered how to put a single sound into the midi editor, again, not intuitive :/
As in a previous post the use of a,"Right click" context menu in many cases can cure most of these as it's the natural way most people use this kind of software. Some way of magnifying the editor or expanding it would help as well.I know the program is designed to self generate but most people also want to add and subtract events easily.

PPS

Jamstix still rocks Very Happy

BTW this was my 1st project completed with JS and I'm really happy with the whole mix and the way JS sits in there.

bit corny but it was a good test-bed track

Jamstix 2, as it is today, is a very complex tool. We are working on concepts to offer a simplified version/mode in the future .

Here's the thing. REAPER requests the data block of a VST on many occasions, such as when you simply close a track FX window. Most other hosts do not do this and only request the data block when the project is actually being saved. Unlike simple synth plugins, the Jamstix data block is very complex and building it every time REAPER calls for it is causing the delays you noticed.

If anyone knows of a way to stop REAPER from making all these superfluous data requests, that would be the best way to fix it.

I can send you a work-around where Jamstix does not send the data block unless the CTRL key is held down. This will fix all your delays but you'll have to remember to hold down the CTRL key when manually saving the project.

Hi Ralph. Can you send me this as I am still getting the closing delays.

I have my Keyboard short cut save default changed in Reaper to Alt+S so if I'm right with your fix I would have to use Ctrl+Alt+S to save.Is that correct?

I'm going to start a thread in the Reaper forum to see if Cockos/Pipeline can add something to help.

Also I've been promoting Jamstix on several of the forums I am registered with as it's a great product Smile

We'll release this feature in Beta 2.5.1 soon.

Ralph has sent me a new Jamstix2.ini that has cured, made an easy work round for me in the latest version of JSXL.

I can now use JS without any pauses and then press the Ctrl key whilst saving the project using the File/Save option in Reaper.I cannot use the Keyboard shortcut to save the project but this is no biggy.

This has also fixed the Reaper project not saving the JS song data Smile
