I am trying to get jamstix to follow strumming acoustic guitar. Is that possible and exactly what do I need to do to make the jam with audio work effectively? Please provide as much detail as possible since I am a beginner here.
thanks

Here's a funky issue I'm dealing with right now. Happened in 2.2.0 and now 2.2.1.
I've got a multi-out template in Reaper for Jamstix - Kick, Snare, Toms, Hat, Ride, Cymbals, Percussion, Ambience.
If I load up the 'metal kit - natural' in Jamstix, and then set the kit to multi-outs 'Kick, Snare, Toms, Hat, Ride, Cymbals, Percussion, Ambience' from the little drop-down arrow on the kit page, everything is cool and I get all of the drums coming through on their respective channels.
If I then load any Bonzo kit, the first four outputs all condense to output 1 (Kick) but the ride, cymbals, percussion and ambience remain on their proper tracks.
If I then reload the Metal kit - natural, the first four outputs are still collapsed to the kick output.
And subsequently, every kit loaded after that collapses the first four outputs to the kick channel (until you remove the plug-in and then open up a new instance).
It's a little frustrating. Has this happened to anybody else?
I'm using the newest Reaper build.
Thanks. _________________ -Brandon

Seems like I missed this post until now. Sorry about that! Jamstix is always synched to the host. It will use the audio data to adjust its dynamics and switch rules. The actual groove is determined by the style/drummer selection. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

It's the 'Downmix' option in the mixer. If it is on then all outputs are sent to #1, effectively making them busses. Turn it off to have traditional output routing instead. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Hi Ralph,
I've just walked from Tracktion to REAPER and I'm working with the latest REAPER-version 2.202 and Jamstix 2.21 (set to Jam With Audio).
The problem is that the Jam with Audio doesn't work. I've installed audioM8 to my guitar parts but when I replay my songs the Power Level Knob doesn't move, although I've moved the input trim sliders to the max. The Audio Activity LED doesn't blink, only the MIDI OUT LED. Jamstix plays the loaded song - but only on the lowest power level so only the HiHats and Fills are audible.
I have no problems with the same songs in Tracktion, so maybe I've overlooked some Reaper speciality. Do you have a clue?
Cheers, Roland |

Make sure the track that audiom8 is on is set up properly. The needle of audiom8 must move or your effect routing/input monitoring setup of the REAPER track is incorrect. _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Thank you very much for your fast response.
I finally found the mistake: there was an empty track with an audiom8 still installed. I deleted it and now everything is fine.

I also had trouble with this but reading about the "downmix" option cleared things up. However...
I get no sound on the ambience channel. Other channesl are fine, just the last channel, the ambience one... no signal.
And I can hear something is missing: if I turn on the downmix option, I can hear the whole deal pretty well.
I tried using the "send ambience to last channel" on and off but no luck...
Any ideas?

| I am unable to get the midi fill trigger to work. Channel is set to any and the note is C-1. It is not working with pedal or keyboard. Yet pedal and keyboard are able to play the same C-1 drum in Drum Module mode. |

Alex: you need to set up all audio outputs in REAPER. Please refer to the REAPER docs on how to add multiple audio outputs to a VSTi plugin.
Tobenschain: does the red MIDI light in JS2 light up when you hit the key? _________________ Ralph Zeuner

Ralph, I am familiar with the procedure, and in fact all the outputs work and get sound, all but the ambience one
I will go again and revise this thing and come up hopefully with more information.
One question: do all of the kits have ambience sound? I understand that those that say "dry" should not have ambience, but all of the other should, right?
