Hi, new user here, Jamstix with SONAR 6 and an E-mu 1820m.

I can't get any sound from 'Jam-with Audio'. I can see Jamstix faithfully improvising bars but I can't hear it.

I probably need a step-by-step run-through of setting it up to work, if some kind person has the time.

No problem hearing it on any other setting- I just can't jam with it.

Cheers.

Sounds as if the song power knob (above the song sheet) falls too low. Does it stay all the way left throughout the jam?

Yes, it does Ralph, although it kicks into life on playback but still without drums, of course. The same with the Audiom8 needle.

You must have the 'Input Echo' (or Monitoring) enabled on the audio track.

Yes, I have 'input echo' enabled on the guitar track. I'm just using the one audio track at present for the guitar.

I can't insert 'AudioM8' into a blank track though. I can insert it once there is some sound recorded onto it but not before. I suspect that this is part of my trouble. Am I misunderstanding how Jamstix works on 'Jam' ?

Here's a quick step-by-step.

- open new Sonar project
- add audio track and insert audioM8 as effect
- click 'Input Echo' on track

You should now be able to play your instrument (routed to the audio track) and see the audioM8 needle move. If not, something is fishy with Sonar on your system.

- add Jamstix 2 to synth rack and select quickstart song
- set to 'Jam With Audio'
- arm a track and hit 'Record' in Sonar

You should now playy your instrument and see the red audio LED in JS2 light up and the song power knob move in synch with your guitar.

OK, Ralph, I've got that happening but I had to load SONAR 5 to get that far. I can't load AudioM8 in SONAR 6 yet. I still don't have any kit sound though, although the red light is up and the level monitors are working. Where am I missing out ?

Well something is odd with S6 not being able to do what S5 does. Maybe a config issue?

Please send me the rzdlog.txt file from your Jamstix 2 folder concerning the sound issue.

OK, Ralph, files sent. I've configured SONAR 6 correctly and I can now load Jamstix without any problems- any other than not being able to hear it, that is.

OK, I understand from your email that I need to load a 'song' before proceeding to the 'Jam with audio' and selecting a style. I hadn't realised that.
I can hear it fine now Ralph, so thanks very much for your time and patience. This site offers a great service.
