I figured it out - In Reaper's midi editor, there is an option to "Automatically Correct Overlapping Notes" - i turned it off.

It sound like 'map GM' serves a purpose but in my case it will limit flexibility. I'll stick to using alternative methods.

What exactly does the button do? Is it a one-shot change note assignments? Or does the button "enforce" the assignments even if a kit is loaded?

Are *all* Jamstix drums mapped to GM notes ...

It can be done using Reaper, but it's a bit cumbersome to work around this.

This would make a great option for drum module mode.
