I just fired up JS to try that and discovered something else.

Ctrl+Wheel forces the wheel to increment in ones.

I Am kind of kicking myself because I should have already tried the modifier key ...

Not sure if you know it yet but holding SHIFT while moving the knob reduce the sensitivity.
