Ralph,
I re-installed SP3 for WinXP on a hunch and it's solved the 'press record, open hi hat nightmare' problem.
However, I'm using 'Carmine' for that particular project and while they're closed ...

Thanks for the quick response. Host has a 'reset after recording' option, tried it checked and unchecked and nothing changed.
