Okay, that does work even with locked bars.
Kind of counterintuitive to move the slider right for some reason, though. I guess I'm thinking of it as a power control.

This doesn't work if the bars are locked. I just went in and selected the snare hits and changed them to sidestick.

Well, I knew about software like Groove Agent and BFD and thought there should probably be other things out there (hopefully cheaper), so I actually typed in "virtual drums" or "virtual drummer" or so ...
